Taste from field
|
|
| Thanks to the chains of rich vegetation on the local mountains,
the Tokashiki Island is blessed with abundant amount of water. In
the valley stretching across the westside of Tokashiki is the residential
area, over 6 hectares of rice fields spread across the locale and
rice is harvested twice a year. Every year when the Whale Festival
comes to town it is also the time of Taimo (Tokashiki paddy grown
potatoes) and always brings a good harvest to the Island. Added varieties
of island taste include the island's Sun-drenched citrus such as Tankan,
their fresh and nutritious eggs laid by the Island-grown hens, and
Tokashiki Miso (bean paste) processed by the locals using homegrown
crops. The amount of Tokashiki's agricultural and stock farm products
is limited so they are not distributed through regular markets but
used locally, so come and taste for yourself the season's taste of
our Tokashiki homeland. |
