Tug of War at the Aza (central section of the village) Tokashiki
|
|
| Tokashiki Village is a heavy agriculture and Fishing village. From
Meiji Era to the middle of Showa Era bonito fisheries flourished,
processed namaribushi and dried bonito were quite popular and traded
with great profits. Long ago, rice was cultured throughout the rice
fields that spread across the western base of the village hills. The
villagers still divide themselves into two, they bring rice straw
from the first biannual harvest and weave a rope and on the same day
at dusk they treasure the traditional tug of war. |
