Leisure Within Our Hills
|
|
The size of Tokashiki Island is 9 kilometers north to south and
2.8 kilometers east to west, while covering an area of 15.8 square
kilometers. The island itself is crowded with many hills that are
over 200 meters in height.
The island is deep green all year round with colorful flowers in bloom.
Tokashiki Island is very characteristic of a subtropical climate throughout
the hills of the island. Hiking trails and observatories are well
equipped to allow people to touch and feel the plants and living creatures.
We have the best environment for driving, walking, and leisure life.
Strolling along the hiking trails of Tokashiki: There
are two Hiking Trails on Tokashiki Isaland. One trail is located in
one of the villages off the main Route where the Otani trail begins
from the National Okinawa Youth House and circles round westward into
the northern part of the island. The other is the trail of Aharen
Teruyama Mountain located in the thick forest of the island. Both
are most suitable as short excursions which promise you a panorama
view of the magnificent beauty of Tokashiki Island.
Observatory Tour: Tokashiki Island filled with an abundance of hills
some towering at more than 200 meters in height has many areas equipped
with observatories. The observatory atop Teruyama mountain looks down
at the scenic beauty of the Kerama Straits. "Harbor-view Park Observatory"
looks down upon ships coming in and out of Tokashiki Harbor and gives
you the feeling you are standing aboard one of them. There are other
observatories which allow you the chance to see the scenic beauty
of Tokashiki Island as well. |
